I have a simple method for when parking any of my trailers (FW, car hauler, utility), all of them have wheels with spoke or holes in the webs through which I run steel cables or heavy chain and good heavy locks. I know a thief can cut cable, chains and locks but thieves look for soft target and anything that slows a thief down makes your item less attractive. If a thief is really determined to take something there isn't a lot you can do. I do use hitch pin locks and tongue locks in addition to the cables/chains and locks.

We live in a semi-rural area and quite a few of our neighbors have lost trailers and other expensive items. I am probably more paranoid than most people but securing my possessions has prevented losses so far. I have encountered one instance where a couple of young men decided to park in our yard just to "visit" at 2 AM. I approached their blind spot and tapped on their car window with the muzzle of my 1911 to get their attention. I suggested they find another place to "visit". That happened about 5 years ago and they haven't returned to my knowledge.

We live at the end of a dead end private road and have a driveway trigger across our road. I'm a light sleeper anyway and the trigger caught my attention so I looked out the window facing the road. I saw their taillights switch off which caused the rest of the events...

After two campaigns in Iraq I think I can maneuver pretty stealthily in the dark...

Have one and use it when scum comes to steal a rig they want in and out . Easiest target is one without. Crime of convenience. Any lock will do. As long as highly visible.
