Key West Naval Air Station
We are retired military and are booked to stay at the Naval Air Station in Key West, Florida in February 2020.
Has anyone stayed here before. Looking for some advanced intel for the area.
Please and thanks.

you will be there at peak time, you do know that you will be primarily 'dry camping'?
Make sure you have a generator.

Not necessarily! It all depends on when they made the reservation, what sites are open when they arrive, who happens to be working that day, and an array of other ifs. We have stayed there and while it is an okay (cheap) place to stay to enjoy Key West, we prefer other RV parks in the area. We love many of the Military RV parks and have stayed in many. Key West could use a little TLC.

I stay at the military campground in Charleston when I go there to visit and was told you can make reservations on military campgrounds by the camp hosts. If it’s true for key west, plan way in advance for 2021. When I retire again, I’m heading south for the winter!

hate to say it but awheeler is simply wrong. you WILL be in dry camping. have a generator......
The campground has a very very specific process and with the camp completely full you will be at the bottom of the list. even generals get put into dry camping for at least 2 weeks at that time for sure.
as for activities there is a gym my wife loves and you can use the pool at the local hotel.
also, get on 'sigbee shufflers' on facebook...lots of activities and you can join.

All I know, we spent a few days at Boyd's RV Park and you didn't need an alarm clock. Bright and early at 7 AM on the dot, the Jets started taking off, right over Boyd's.

Need reservations
Been staying at Sigsbee NAS for past 10 years. New change is reservations a must thru Navygateway. No reserv. No stay. You will be in dry camp up to 3-4 weeks at peak season till you get to top of rotation list. Good for 14 days then back to dry camp till your turn for hook ups comes up. You WILL NEED a generator.one with low decibel noise. Bring one which is too loud and they will not let you run it. Fun place to spend the winter soreservations a must if you want to camp at NAS Key West.
