3791RD ice maker winter use question

Newbie Montana owner here, we’ve wintered the last 3 winters in Austin, Texas which can, and has gotten into single digit temperatures. We did not have an ice maker in our previous unit but have one now. Our refrigerator is in the slide and has a water line exposed which comes out of the side of the frame and feeds our refrigerator. This is supposed to be a 4 season unit and it amazes me that we have this exposed waterline. I can and will disconnect it under he slide, but how to I protect the exposed 8” that protrudes out do the frame. I don’t believe this park of the frame is a heated compartment. Stupid design for a 4 season model, JMHO.

TIA

Mike,

First, welcome to the forum!

Just let that line freeze, it will not do any damage.

We turn off the water under the sink, open the drain that's under the rv in the center (ours is blue), and let the water drain out. Since we don't live in ours, we drain the rest of the RV and then blow the lines out with an air compressor set to ~50 psi using an adapter at the fresh water connection. Then we put a container under the water dispenser inside the fridge and blow that out as well.
In your case if you are living in it, simply draining it will get the water out of the plastic PEX connections and you can turn it back on when the cold weather passes.
