RV TRIP Wizzard Problems

Greatly DISAPPOINTED in RV Trip Wizard - Traveling from 77364 zip code to Leesville ,LA routes me over Hwy 190 over the Sabine River - BRIDGE CLEARENCE IS 12'3" . This is the third time reporting this in as many years. It is set for RV travel and RV is set @ 13' 6" - why can this not be fixed?

WATCH YOUR ROUTINGS from this source.

Did the Low Bridge warning icon show up at the TX63/LA8 crossing over that river?

I would think they would route you around this based on yourRV height. I take it that didn't happen?

Maybe I'm missing something. I don't see that Hwy 190 has a bridge at the Texas/Louisiana border. Your pic looks like a different route on LA-8/63. Is LA-8 the route you wanted to take?

Added: here's my RVTW view of that bridge showing Low Clearance

I took a look at this, trying to replicate the issue and found that the low clearances are displayed at that location and in fact when I set my rig height to 12'6" Trip Wizard would refuse to send me over this bridge.

Is it possible that the Low clearance display on the map has been disabled in your map settings??

On HWY 190 there is a causeway over the river but no bridge overhead afaik. Here's the street view of 190

That bridge is not on Hwy 190 - it is TX63 just south of Toledo Bend Reservior.

I agree. 190 heads in the direction of Leesville but veers off to the southeast at Jasper toward Deridder. TX 63, then LA 8, continues from Jasper to Leesville.

I’ve been thinking about using the rv trip wizard myself. Does anyone else have any cons or pros I would be very interested in hearing about them.

We have TW installed on a Galaxy 8A tablet for travel. The user interface is archaic on an android. Gave up on using TW and will cancel our subscription. Might work okay with a laptop in the cab, but that's just not for us.

I use RV Wizard to plan trips, stays, and suggested routes. As I prefer secondary roads, their route recommendations wind up being adjusted to my preferences. But for planning a trip and finding places to stay, this is what I use.

I use it on my PC. I tried it earlier today on my Samsung Tablet. I think it was running in Chrome and the lack of an Enter Key was a problem. If there is an App I have to hive it a try. Or maybe not as I really like using my PC to plan. Drive time uses Google Maps or the truck GPS.

I use RVTW for all planning. It has served me quite well and is easy to use. I also use a Garmin RV nav system for the trip itself. No system is perfect and there are other tools. I just happen to like the RVTW interface, RV park library, etc. It's quite comprehensive and does, in fact, show low clearance roads as shown above. I use it primarily on my PC, but can also use it on my iPad in the browser...not an app. The android phone app isn't that great and will use it only for reference of work already done.

See below. Hyway TX 63, not US 190. Did TW route you to Leesville? Or did it follow US 190 at Jasper, Texas? It would be helpful to know.

Now that my PC is fixed, I used RV Trip Wizard to plot a route from 77364 to Leesville, LA. I do have my RV height set and Low Clearances enabled. You can see RVTW does show the low bridge at 63/9 over the Sabine River and routes me around them onto Hwy-692 at Burkeville. That route adds a bunch of time. You might be better checking Google (or Apple if you are of that persuasion) Maps to find shorter time routes that avoid the low bridge.

We don't use the turn-by-turn GPS portion of RVLife, just the planner. In the truck, we use CoPilot on the smartphone

Use a Garmin RV GPS. While going to the rally this year it yelled at me that I was going the wrong way on a one way, I nearly had a messy seat. I was on a 2 way road. Got home and updated the maps.
