Made decision

While did the walkthrough of the 2021 Montana 3761fl we been looking at. Looks like we will be taking delivery on Monday. Walkthrough went very good. Took about 2 1/2 hrs. Only found a few minor items in need of repair. All major items were good to go. The minor items were corrected on the spot. I was very surprised being camping world. Last camper was from camping world not a good experience. This time a different camping world. Now the decision to make is do we want extend warranty or not. I’m thinking save the money put it aside and if need a repair use it. Not a big fan of extended warranty.

What kind of a warranty did you get from CW? Maybe 30 days, or 90 days? I'm not a big believer in extended warranties either. Most thing will be covered by the CW warranty, so if you get an EW, have it start at the end of the CW warranty.

If a CW warranty it will only be repaired at CW. Maybe even that specific CW.
I've read of repairs waiting for months to be done then not done correctly or at all. Of course you run the same risk anywhere.
We didn't go with the extended warranty. I've done most of the repairs/improvements myself.

Glad to hear that the PDI went well! You showed them you knew what to look for so they knew who they were dealing with. If everyone that purchased a new or used trailer knew what to ask and look for, it would be so much easier. As far as extended warranty, I'd ask what the deductible is. With all of the new tech in these trailers I would get it if the coverage was right. I bought it for my new trailer. It's worth it just to cover the 6K fridge for 5 years. $100 deductible.

I think you are wise to pocket the money and become your own warranty resource.

We put $5000.00 in a Saving Account over 10 Years ago. It's still there and with two different 5th Wheels and over 100K miles traveled we've only had minor repairs that we paid out of pocket.

I have a lifetime warranty that we have used a couple of times. They replaced the microwave twice with an exact replacement. If I didn't have the warranty I would have replaced it with a better one. The one time I really needed it, a bent axel, they didn't cover it, 3k repair. All in all I'm still under water after 6 years.
If I was doing it again I would have put 5k in the bank and self-insured.
Oh, BTW I have to do an annual inspection to maintain the warranty at $150 per. That just adds to the cost.
