insulation around tanks

I have 4 season Montana 3121 and I looked behind basement wall in tank area and there is no insulation From what I understand it not only supposed to have tank heaters but also is insulated with batting or rolled insulation. Dealer service guy says he doesn't know I did have a water leak and dealer pulled underbelly to repair I'm thinking they took out insulation because it got wet and didn't replace it. what do you guys think? Thanks for any replys.

I could be wrong, but I've never seen any tanks insulated. They are placed in the underbelly of the trailer and the furnace blows warm on on them (supposedly), and with the tank heaters under them, that's all there is.

Mine has a layer of bubble type and a thin layer of fiberglass insulation under the tanks.

Keystone Montana factory tour.
They use Reflectex (silver coated bubble wrap) for insulation. I think it has an R factor of 3?
The Coroplast also provides some protection.

Tanks at 3:55 and 9 minutes
Bottom insulation 7:20 and 8:35 and 12:38 minutes.
Water line routing/insulation 12:38 minutes.
Racetrack AC ducts 32:42min.

it’s called Astrofoil so it probably pushing an R factor of 3.1

Our rig has the bubble wrap above the coroplast and no tank heaters. We have been at temperatures below 10 degrees and used the furnace to heat the rig and never had an issue with any of the tanks freezing. I’m thinking not much else is really needed. Personally, I think the tank heaters may be a nice new addition but not necessary in the long term. With the heated under belly area, I also don’t see any need for any insulation wrapped around the tanks.

Just some Reflectix was originally below our HCs tanks along with only a hot air duct (mouse track to the rest of the trailer!) keeping them warm

Same here. Except we have blanket heaters glued to the tanks bottoms.
