Altering back rack for large ebike

We have two fold up ebikes which we fold up and carry in the back seat when towing, and in the box with a bike rack DH made when driving to a bike path. Then DH bought a large ebike (Rad Power 6). It doesn’t fold up. He wants to take it to Florida where we ride with an ebike group there. (For now he is keeping his fold up bike).

We took the back rack that came with the trailer into a metal shop and had some alterations made so his ebike will travel on it. We had previously purchased bike holders at Camping World which we used when DH had a normal bike. His Rad has fat tires which wouldn’t fit into these holders.

The metal shop altered these holders and welded them to the rack. We had left the rack and the bike there so they could do it to fit. They also attached eye bolts through which DH will run ratchet straps to strap the bike down.

You don’t say but I suppose you are asking is this safe or should it be done. You didn’t say how much the bike and the rack weighs. If you know that all you need to know is how much Lippert says you can haul on the back of your camper without canceling your frame warranty.

I’m not asking anything, just sharing in case someone else has the same issues: carrying a large ebike with a fifth wheel. The rack is rated for 250 lbs and the bike weighs 60 lbs. I’m assuming the frame is okay with it if the rack can hold 250 lbs. After all, it came with the trailer.
