Dometic 9200 Power Awning replacement motor

I have 2021 3855BR with a Dometic 9200 power awning. The motor in it is shot, runs but won't retract or go out. Looks like there was a flaw in design on the 9200 Awning and they stopped making it. No one has the 9200 motors in stock and I am not sure if they are making them. Has anyone had same issue and used a different motor as a replacement. Looking to see if there another motor out there that might work?

Yes, found one finally at Panther RV Products. Took about 5 minutes to swap it out. They were great, worked with me to get me one. No one was had them or would even respond when I contacted them. If I need anything in future they won my long term business. https://pantherrvproducts.com/

Much appreciated thanks for the very quick reply
Will look there
Question
Did you need to retract the awning to replace or were you able to replace with the awning extended…. I’m thinking not but thought I would ask given it is a gear mechanism versus the standard type

I had already retracted it and had it zip tied in place. Retracting it was a real pain. Took three of us and tall ladders.

Anyone know if replacement gears and/or parts are available for this motor? Just replaced mine and would like to rebuild this one so I have an extra motor for the next event.

I hit that link in post #8 above and it said "out of stock".
Copied the description and put in Amazon and all of this came up.
I don't know that these are the correct part - but start your search on Amazon.

I don’t as not able to find replacement parts but in taking apart the motor carefully I noted the gears had become misaligned… so I realigned so the spindle would move correctly and repacked with lots a grease… works great again

I had an issue while in Texas this past January. The problem for me was not the motor but the plastic gear the motor turned. I couldn’t find or buy that part. Had to buy the whole assembly. I used Panther RV Products.

Here was the info and cost.

We are going on our 2nd Dometic awning motor. The plastic gear on the metal drive shaft stripped on the 1st one less than 6 months of purchase of our new 2022 Montana. Motor runs but doesn't move the awning in our out. The 2nd motor lasted almost 1 year & we're working on getting a replacement. Why on earth would a plastic gear be used with the metal shaft? It's just not holding up.

As JMGJR said in #6, it was a real pain getting it rolled in to zip tie it for travel both times.

I just had what I think is the same problem while boondocking. We needed to run dump out black tank and the awning wouldn’t retract. I could hear a clicking sound but nothing moved. I got out the manual and did as it said but I couldn’t get it to manually roll in. I ended up having to take the arms off the ends and lower it to the ground. Quite a feet for just the wife and I. Now I have to figure out how to get it home. Maybe some place can repair it - new motor and awning material but I’m thinking I need to replace the whole thing now. Does anyone have any recommendations of a model or brand I should replace it with?

I know this thread is older but here goes. I have a 2021 3121RL with the same issue with the same 9200 awning motor. I was able to get a replacement from Keystone through my extended warranty plan after little help from Dometic. I decided to do a repair on the one that failed so I have a backup. It did appear to me that the gear was molded to the shaft around a serrated area and a hole in the shaft which the glass filled nylon flowed. This is the point of failure, motor drives the gear but it just slips on the shaft after it fails. My guess is part of the failure comes from retracting the awning and once it touches the side of the camper, if you continue to hold the retract button it puts additional strain and torque on the joint, weakens it and eventually fails. There is no torque limiter or slip clutch to protect it. In my case it didn’t even blow the fuse.
After seeing where some others had attempted to repair over on another Forum, I decided to make a new flanged shaft and modify the gear to marry the two together. I bored out one side of the gear just deep enough to remove the ribs and hub. Also bored the center hole to 10mm. Added holes for the rivets. The new shaft is a replica of the old with a flange integrated into the shaft-all one piece. It also has holes to accept the rivets. The head of the rivet only protrudes slightly but there is a flange bronze bushing in the gear housing the shaft goes into that provides the clearance needed. It went together quite nicely however I have only bench tested this since I put a new motor on the camper and will use this as a backup. I had a local machine shop make up the shaft and modify the gear for me. Fortunately I know the owner so he gave me a break on the cost. I feel that this design is stronger than the original, time will tell…If this is something you are interested in doing, and have access to a machinist, I have pdf drawings of the parts made and more photos.
