Sanitizing fresh water tank

My Monty has sat for 3 years and would like to know the best way to freshen my water tank.

So I do my fresh water tank twice a year and run a diluted water/bleach mix through all my water lines and let the tank sit over night with the mixture inside. Then I flush, drain, refill, flush, drain, etc.until I feel most water/bleach mixture is out of the system. I have done this process for years in all of my RVs & have never had any issues.

My tank mixture is 1/4 cup of bleach per 16 gallons of water (66/16 = 4.1 or about 1 cup of bleach per 66 gallon fresh water tank)

Easiest way is to put about 1 cup of bleach in water hose, attach and fill your fresh water tank. Run water from each outlet until you smell bleach. Let it sit at least 24 hours, then drain and flush the system.

Since it has set for such a long period I would also remove the anode from the water heater and flush the tank, open all low point drains and drain and also the outside shower rinse station as well as washing machine hookup if you have that..

This will purge all the stale water .. rinse the WH tank out and install a new anode .. do as other OP stated with the bleach and open not only the inside faucets, but also flush the toilet several times as well as drain more water thru the low point drains and washing machine hookup.l

Just so you know, your 66 gallon water system consists of a 45 gallon tank, a 12 gallon (depending on year) water heater plus all the lines.
