New with old....

Hello! First camper for my wife and self - a 2006 Mountaineer. Needs a little work and freshening up, but in good overall shape! This is to be our temporary home whilst we continue rehabilitation of a 120+ yo farmhouse. Praying it will be a good experience as we do want to invest in a newer (and smaller?) camper for the future as budget allows. Have 4 kiddos, one out of nest, one in college and 2 still at home.

Enjoy micro-steading (homesteading on small acreage), gardening, fishing and reading with the occasional computer game thrown in. Am retired Army, 25 yrs, but still working FT and looking forward to our adventures ahead.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like you've signed up for a few adventures. Congrats on the Mountaineer. You've come to the right place if you need help with it.

Welcome to the forums! Last 2 houses we purchased I did 100% complete remodel on both. OK, it took me 22 years for both, but it finally was accomplished! Now that we have a beautiful house, where do we spend all our time? Yep! In the drive way in the camper! We've been doing it this way for .... well ... 22 years now!

Congrats on your new Mountaineer and good luck with that rebuild. Just don't be too shocked when, once you get the rebuild and remodel done, you all of a sudden have one of those kids come back home and say ....

"Hey Mom, Hey Dad ... she just left me for another man and threw me out! I've got no where else to go. Can I come home with my 11 month old son?"

Of course! We remodeled and rebuilt this house with the intention of our kids and grand kids coming home every now and then. Um .... that was 8 years ago and he's still here! Thats why we hang out in the Montana in the drive way so much!

So, enjoy! Have fun! And don't get in a hurry on that rebuild. Because once you get it done .... who knows who will come knocking on your front door!

I can't even imagine living in my Mountaineer with 2 kids - especially if they are over 12 or so. And for a year!!! More power to you....
