Help with leak detection

A few weeks back, after driving thru some torrential rains, we discovered avwet spot in the carpeting of our bedroom. It was at the nose end, in the very center, right where the floor steps up from the bedroom to closet. The carpeting in the closet was dry, as was the carpeting to the right, left and rear of the spot in the center. Trying to figure out where the water came from. The roof seams are sealed, but the "mushroom" attic vents are deteriorated. Could the water be getting in there? My other thought is that while driving the wind forced it up & in the pin box?

Looking at your profile - your unit is a 2015 3582RL…floor plan below.
Did the wet spot appear after travel?
If it was caused by rotten roof vents seems like you would see a wet stain on the ceiling.
Which floor location ? A. B. or C?
I had some water creep down the Schwintek bottom rail and a wet spot appeared at “A” due to a driving rain (well that was my best guess - it has not happened again).

Those vents do need to be replaced, but I would expect a wet ceiling if they are the source. Check the roof top antenna to ensure the rubber boot is still installed and in good shape.

Yes, it was after travel. It was at "A". I looked at the top of the slide and that bottom corner but didn't see any wetness, though that would be a logical source.

We had a similar experience. It was directly under the crank mechanism for the over the air antennae. The fix was as simple as Carl suggested, putting the rubber boot back on the antennae roof base. Used a few dabs of silicone to hold it in place. Hope your fix is as easy.

Look up inside your pinbox where the 7 way cable goes through. You will see the bottom of your closet floor and a hole in the frame where the 7 way cable goes through.
I cut 2" styrofoam and packed it in there to insulate it, then used gorilla tape to seal the 7 way cable hole.
I also used gorilla tape to seal around the perimeter where the filion (vinyl surface material) meets the pinbox to seal out the elements for when you are driving.

Had the same issue with our 331RL and it had blown in around a dirty bed slide seal and ran along the edge of the slideout. Only figured it out when we went to move and the end of the slide was a wall-thickness past the wet spot.

Also, was it raining before you brought in the slides? It could be runoff from the slide roof.

CraigB, I just replaced all the vent caps on our 2019 3791RD. Our attic vents looked just like your pictures, so much so that when I first saw the pictures I thought "I don't remember posting them".
Here's the ones I ordered on Amazon for the mushroom vents:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074JFP3PP...roduct_details
$14.99 for 2 of them
and here's the other vent caps:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BC7J4F7...roduct_details
$15.99 for 2 of them. I had to order 2 sets (total of 4) since I needed 3.

The big mushroom vent caps just unscrew off. The smaller vent caps have a screw holding them on. Once it is removed, they just pull straight up. The screw was under some silicone on mine.

I had this mysterious problem before and determined that I pulled the bed slide in while raining. The water on the slide wall/roof trickled down on the carpet in zone A of the picture.

Thanks for your suggestions! I replaced the attic vent caps since they were falling apart (had to buy the whole units as I couldn't find just the caps). Went through some torrential rains in Albuquerque but didn't get any water intrusion. We were stationary so I can't be sure if I resolved the problem. Will be keeping an eye on it during our next travels.

Thanks for posting back and letting us know what you believe the final solution was. Now it will be here in print for those who are bashful and use the search function instead. Glad you problem seems to be resolved. Happy camping!
