2003 big sky battery wiring

Hi, I just got a new battery for my RV. A friend took out the old battery and I was getting ready to put the new battery in but unsure of what wires go where. I've googled it and see sometimes black is pos and saw a red and black on a neg post in one picture.

I have two red wires one black and one white. I checked all with a multimeter and only one RED wire shows amps. I can see the white is ground because bolted to frame. the other red and black wire go through the firewall area and I can not trace. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

I'd say that the reds and white are positive. The frame wire is obviously negative. The other black is most likely negative but to be sure use a multi meter and check for continuity. One lead to the frame and the other lead to the wire. On an analog meter the needle will move all the way right. If it's digital the reading should read zero resistance.

Thanks for the reply. Here's some pictures. The white is ground it's bolted to frame. One red that has power is going to the back where it's bolted to another red wire where the blue connectors are. The other red and black wire go out to the left over the generator.i can't see where they go and not sure if they go to the positive or negative side

Ok you ID'ed
#1 white, as ground. It goes to battery negative.
#2 black, trace it back, where does it go to?
#3 red, goes to the junction on the wall. It should Definitely go to your battery positive.
#4 black/red, you need to trace it back to something to determine for sure.

Daryles has most of it correct I believe.

#1 White is definitely the coach ground and goes to the frame.
#3 Red is the 12V feed to coach power panel (via the self resetting circuit breakers).
Montana wiring traditionally used White for Ground and Black for Positive.

#2 and #4 I believe are the two leads to the generator used to start it. As this was an add-on, I suspect they followed the conventional auto wiring style where Red is positive and Black is Ground. But be sure to check the generator end to see which is connected where. .

Thanks for the ID pic Daryles, Carl n Susan, I believe you are right. I can not trace wires 2 and 4 completely but they look like the same wire ends going to the generator. I hooked everything up and everything seems to work. Thanks for the input everyone.
