Replacing Sailun Tires

I am in need of replacement of my Sailun tires. I originally bought these in I think the summer of 2016. S637 235/80R16 tires online. These were the exact same size as the Trailer King junk that came on my 16 Montana. It was before Sailun was very well known in the RV world. These tires have held up through thick and thin and are being replaced because of their age and two of them show some sidewall cracking. Not sure why the 80 series is more expensive than the 85 series now and it appears that both are available. I think the 85 has a bit higher weight rating and not much bigger circumference. I am assuming that they got the problem with tread separation fixed. If I remember correctly they are connected with Cooper Tires. I would like to purchase these before I leave Arizona and have them delivered to my Washington home where my Montana is sitting in the parking area. If there are still issues please respond and if anyone had a history with the new ones please respond with the good or bad. I will probably try to purchase these the middle of next week to arrive in the first week of May. I would like to have these on my unit before heading to Westport for my annual Halibut and Lingcod fishing trips.

I bought replacement 85 series Sailuns last year and had them delivered to my home while I was still traveling (I found a good deal at Walmart for them). No problems and it is about 5K miles later.

Thanks that is good information and makes me feel a lot better. One question I have is why the 85 over the 80 series? I think it’s only a 1/2” taller when measuring your total unit hight.

I haven't heard of any Sailun issues since the bad batch when they switched some production to Vietnam in 2021. I'll buy them again.

The 85 series hold more weight for the same air pressure, I think it is 400 lbs per tire more. This is what I did after I had to replace them after a bent axle ruined the front ones. Walmart had the best price delivered to your house in 3 days with them mounting them for free.

I replaced the China bombs after a blowout with new Sailun S637 235/85R16 tires and after about 10k miles in the last 8 months have not had one issue and tire wear looks very good at 95psi. Nothing but praise from me.

Appreciate the info on Wally World having the best price. Spent an hour surfing the net and didn't find any better deals around. Free shipping sure didn't hurt either.

Well I got a bit anxious on ordering my new set of Sailun tires. I did go with the S637 ST235/85R16 series as it was cheaper than getting the 80 series again. It also gets more rated weight per tire although I will gain about a 1/2” of height on our Montana. I did go through Walmart.com as they had the best price along with free shipping. $571.20 plus taxes and disposal fee of 4.00 per tire. I had my old ones mounted and balanced at Costco with the Nitrogen. Not sure if I will let Walmart do it this time or not. Costco did have to add a bit of lead to get them to balance back in 2016. They will probably arrive a couple of days before we actually get home. My neighbors oldest son will put them in the garage for me.

Yep, 85’s for me too. Been on the 85’s since 2018 and am getting a fresh set put on this week myself. Probably 20-30 states worth of crappy roads on the last set. Hoping for that type of service this go ‘round.

I had counteract put in the tires to balance.Its a bag of beads they put in when mounting and the tire balances it self while driving.This is what they put in big truck tires to balance. Had mounted at local truck tire shop.

I replaced the originals that came on my 2019 Alpine 2 years ago with TransEagle H235 85 16 purchased from Priority Tire. Poor axle camber scrubbed the inside tread from the originals over trip distances of 13K+ miles. After getting the axles re-formed at a truck alignment shop, the TransEagles were installed by Discount Tire. The new set now has just over 6.2K on them and have held pressures and worn exceptionally well. Not sorry I moved up a tire rating from G to H.

Last purchased a large South Korean company's tires with U.S. production and very happy. Hankook. ST235 80 R16. 14ply/G load rating. 12/32 tread depth. Perfect fit. 110 psi. I don't worry about the dangerous and expensive blowouts anymore.

Most likely local tire shop of your choice where you can get your rig into and out of safely. Google maps in satellite view can help you decide upon a good location. Do call ahead to inquire if they would have any issue working on a big rig.
Others here will rightfully recommend lug centric balancing machine, but those seem to be as rare as hens teeth now days.

I have lost track of where you are. If you are back in Grandview I suggest American Quality Tire in Independence. 40 Hiway and Pittman Rd, just north and east of the sports complex. Used them for years. They even have a place on their drive big enough for the 5'er.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am full time but I am visiting a friend in Grandview.
I am thinking about to take off two wheels and take them with 2 new tires to Walmart.
Making 2 tripps. One side at a time using the hydraulic leveling system to hold the trailer.
Would that be a bad idea?? I know they don't recommend it, but it would only be a couple hours.
