2017 Montana 3100RL 5th wheel GelCoat

I have a 2017 Montana 3100RL 5th wheel. Yesterday I noticed small chips of loose gelcoat on the propane door. I cannot see any sign of water damage. Any suggestions on what cause this damage and how to prevent any further damage?

Hopefully someone will have seen that issue before. I have no idea unfortunately. But I thought I would try to find a replacement propane compartment door on Trekwood.com to see how much they run. The price shown does not include shipping and their shipping has a reputation of being outrageous...so assume the shipping cost is $100 for starters - this will give you an idea what a new door and frame cost.
