Stripped Awning Support Arm Screws

I recently decided to re-caulk the upper support arm screws on my awning. After applying silicon to the screws, a couple of them were stripped out and wouldn't tighten. My question is twofold. (1) Are they mounted to the aluminum structure or are they screwed into a wooden block support? (2) If mounted to aluminum should I try larger lag bolts or would jack nuts work? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I had to have some replaced on mine and they used "Oscar" rivets.

For the wall rail the fabric slides into, Dometic recommends Oscar rivits as RMcNeal mentioned above.
For the aluminum arms, mine have fat lag bolts.
I would use a stud finder (or Walabot) to see if there is an aluminum stud behind there.
If so, maybe a fatter lag bolt. If not, maybe a 1/4" jack nut.

I’d put bigger screws in it so the next time I needed to take it off it will be easier to remove. I would replace all the screws.

Rivets should be the answer
