Oh well, let's just forget about the world problems for a while and go RVing. Life's too short; especially for us older folks that were bullet proof in our youth and finding out there actually is an expiration date.

Probably right. I don't fit in very well at those places. Too loud, too flashy. When i go out to eat I want to enjoy conversation not hear the stupid sports/politics shows.

Agreed.

We get by just fine with 4 feet of half height hanging space, the dresser and 4 small drawers and cubby hole that used to house the hamper now is home to our shoes. Clothing type and quantity is all a matter of choice.

As for the HC 311RD floorplan, not our cup of tea... we love our DIY remodeled 3813MS. The front closet was removed to make room for a crafting hobby space and den for our beagle. We do not miss the "lost" hanging space from this mod.

To each his or her own desires. JMHO

Keystone designs floor plans based on consumer wants and needs. They also want to offer something different then other brands. Obviously there is a market for the 311RD or they wouldn't make it. As I stated, it's the same as my 295RL just a different kitchen/living room layout.

Enjoy your rig and don't let others opinions get under your skin.

I don't think they create model for what the customers want. I think it is backwards - they create something that they HOPE the customers will want. My guess is it will be gone in 2-3 years. But everyone to their own likes....

When you are in business you are either going forward or backwards. Either developing new products or letting someone else do it. So you put out new products to see what might stick. If one doesn’t work you learn from it both good and bad and use what you learn in future projects.

Good point. I was recently in a 2024 Montana and I saw that the stainless steel “airplane” sink is back in the bathroom. I wonder if they found out that the vessel sink didn’t stick.
We’re not a huge fan of either. I hate the way the stainless always looks spotted and she just doesn’t like the vessel.

If manufacturers pumped out the same set of 3 or 4 floorplans every year there would be little incentive for people to upgrade. So they are constantly trying to invent that new catchy floorplan that grabs attention. If sales are good for that plan, they will continue it or some variation. If not, they will discontinue it and try another. Been a lot of plans discontinued over the years. Really no way of predicting what will work or what will not. That’s the great thing about choices.

My wife and I must be the oddballs.
We can easily do without any rods whatsoever to hang clothes. We would rather have all drawers or shelves. Our wardrobes even at home mainly consists of jeans and t-shirts. If we need to wear something that came out of the closet on a hanger someone either died or got married. Lol

Me too, regarding wardrobe selection--I wear the same-looking jeans and T-shirts every day, like a cartoon character. I prefer to hang jeans and T-shirts up though, and am thinking it sounds like the closets are not wide enough to really hold enough clothes at all, even in conjunction with drawer space.

Another thing on the closets - the bottom ones seem to be hard to see what is there and then get it out. At best it was at my belt line, but probably lower. So you have to bend over or squat down to see what is there and grab the hanger. As I said earlier - each to his own.
And as others said - Merry Christmas to all.

I don't have a problem seeing or retrieving from the lower hanger closet...

Tony, maybe you are shorter (more likely younger) than I am!!! LOL
We travel from 100+ degrees at home and end up in places where the temps can be low of 40. So I need a light winter/fall coat. I am not sure it would hang in these??? I guess I just am a creature of habit and closet rods are supposed to be about 5 feet tall, darn it!
Also we go to a sort of nice restaurant once in a great while and wife wears a full length dress. Oh well.

We have what we have for 2 main reasons. 1. It checks off most of the boxes on our 40 years of experience list. 2. It was within our chosen budget.

I still can't believe how the shear volume RV's are built and sold every year with such a huge variety of styles, floorplans, and price ranges. Yet most of us manage to find something that grabs or attention for a variety of reasons.

We don't like travel trailers, yet a huge number of them are sold and enjoyed
We don't like a front living/mid-kitchen floorplan, yet many like them alot
We don't like a plan without a bed in the slide with a larger closet, others feel differently
On and on...

Yep, OEM's are always trying to put a new spin on floorplan ideas...some stick, some don't. Some gain a following but not large enough to warrant the cost of continued manufacturing. These guys are all in business to make money. So bread and butter floorplans mixed with constant imaginative tweaking will often find the small percentage of market share gain they are looking for.

I applaud the effort, but will still only give them my money for something that works for us. If it doesn't sell...they'll move on

And...Merry Christmas, everyone!
