Black water tank fitting

I’m replacing broken waste valve and am left with a bout 1-1/2” pie coming out of tank to attach to. It’s 3-7/8” o.d. I can fernco the other end., it’s the pipe out of tank giving me trouble.

What you have is nominal 3” ABS pipe that is 3 1/2” outside diameter. You may have the part of the flange fitting still glued to the outside of the 3” pipe nipple which would give you about the diameter dimension you are seeing. You will need to somehow remove that part from the nipple in order to glue a new flange fitting to the nipple so you can mount a new drain valve to it.

Thanks. I must have over-thunk it. 😁. I was able to put some dawn on the fernco and with some elbow grease, it went right on. Not sure why cable won’t close it all the way. I loosened the 4 bolts a tad to let the seal do their job so we’ll see on the next flush out! Thanks for the help!
