New Air Filter Grille?
Has anyone found a good way to put a changeable air filter for those grilles under the steps. It should be filtered especially if you ever hadd to clean one of those motors in the unit.

If you find aluminum z rails (think two 90 degree L's put together in z formation), then you could slide filter between brackets. John

I replaced my filters this weekend with filter material that I bought at Home Depot. It was a big green sheet of filer material. Unfortunately, it is a bit thicker that the stock foam. So my vents required longer screws, backing blocks of wood and now do not lay flush. I can live with it. And from the sheet (about $6.00) i have three sets for replacement.

Ozz did that to cut down on dust in the air since that's the cold air return to the furnace.

There's so many other openings leading to the furnace in my 3150RL that filters under the steps would be a futile accomplishment. There's a two foot square wood grill right under the fridge that you can see the furnace thru. My entire pass thru storage and belly area was also direct linked to the furnace return air till I installed insulation.

I have plugged and sealed all holes so that the under steps grill's are now the major return air path. I installed electric thermotatically controlled heat for the basement, storage, and removed the furnace duct that was heating the outside. After years of unfiltered air those atwood fans get pretty filthy and are tough to get out to clean. You are probably correct in that my sealing of the cabinets between the front living and kitchen are not completely sealed nor is the breaker panel sealed well.

They do make a filter grill. Just not sure what size you have. I changed out mine because i had a bypass valve I needed access to so installed it in my Monty. A filter grill has thumb screws so you can open it to change the filters instead of removing the grill every time. You can get them at Home Depot or Lowes.
