Open Roads (EFS) & Maverick

Open Roads (EFS card) has signed up with Maverick. This adds a lot of new places in the western states to get fuel. Compared with Mudflaps, Open Roads usually has a better price and they are supporting our rallies. Maverick just acquired Kum & Go convenience stores; adding even more options. Check their website to see all the choices.

Even with Maverick added to the system, you still need to be at a truck stop to get the diesel discount with the EFS card. Not sure if the big truck lanes in the back of the Maverick will do the discount. I might check tomorrow when we head south through Minden, NV.

As a followup, I just checked the Open Roads app, and it is showing the Maverick at the north end of Minden, and the current price with discount is $3.558 per gallon. Yeah!! Gas Buddy is showing diesel there at $3.75.

I've used Maverick twice since they popped up on the app. It works and does not appear to be restricted to truck pumps like Loves.

I tried to join openroads and they want my SSN. I don't think it is needed and I don't want it out there. ATT hack put mine already on the dark web according to Norton, so don't want more potential problems.
Anyone know a way around this?

There is no alternative way to get an ESF/Open Roads account without giving them your SSN. There has been several Threads here (and other RV forums) about it. You also have to give them access to a bank account. Thousands of us have done it. If you don't want to agree to their terms then Gas Buddy and MudFlap are your best alternatives.

SSAN privacy is a joke, and likely everyone's number is almost public knowledge. SSAN used to be the military serial number and up till a few years before I retired, had to be on my time cards at work. It's only been recent, (15 or 20 years) that now everyone is worried about the number. EFS Open Roads is no different than a bank and you give the bank the number and they are just as likely to get hacked as any other institution.

So has anyone used openroads in Wyoming Maverick stations? I spend quite a bit of time there and wonder how much I could save.

Here's a few; a lot of choices other than Maverick.

Fort Bridger TA $3.14
Little America $3.70
W of Green River Loves $3.15
Rock Springs Texaco $3.11
Wamsutter Loves $3.22
Rawlins Maverick $3.23
Rawlins TA $3.20
Laramie Petro $3.19
Laramie Loves $3.21
Cheyenne Little America $3.14
Cheyenne Loves $3.22
Cheyenne Sapp Bros $3.17
Cheyenne TA $3.19
Casper Maverick $3.16
Gillette Maverick $3.24

In the two years I have been using Open Roads (EFS), I have saved almost $423. Mudflaps has saved me another $90.

Right. Up until a few years ago, my FAA flight instructor certificate number was my SSN. I had to write it in every log book I ever signed; those logbooks are still out there. If someone wants to hack you, they are going to do it with or without your SSN.

If I was so inclined (but why?), I'm pretty sure I could find anyone's SSN in a short time.

I stopped at the Maverick at the north end of Minden, NV this morning, and filled up at the trucker diesel pump area. Got two cents off swiping the Maverick card, so down to $3.739. Then pumped a little less than 20 gallons, and the resulting price with discount and fees was $3.612 per gallon. Sure beats the $5.29 I was paying in California near Becky's Dad north of Fresno.

We paid $3.09 at the Kum & Go in Republic, MO using Mudflap yesterday. It was a $0.25/gal discount.

I’m using the Maverik Nitro card. It’s tied to my checking account, works like ATM. They did not require or request SSN. Saves $0.10/Gal off posted prices. Also collects points that can be turned into Maverik gift cards. This is in AZ, probably works at all Maveriks.

I went through a car wash in Chandler, AZ in Feb. Just like last year, they gave out a Circle K fuel card good for $0.20 off per gallon (up to 20 gallons) of fuel (both gas and diesel). Just another tool to use plus I can use my CC that gives 4% back on fuel purchases. (another $0.12 to $0.20 per gal.).
