Atlanta

We are planning a trip from west Ky to Savanna Ga for next spring. I know that tractor trailers have to use the bypass around Atlanta. Our Monty alone is 41’ long. My question is can we stay on I-75 through the middle of Atlanta or do we have to take the bypass like the big trucks do?

I'm curious why you are even going through Atlanta. Wouldn't I95 be a more direct route?

I've traveled I-75 through Atlanta several times towing my camper(s) over the years. I followed the signs. I don't remember if I was on some of the by-passes or or what, I just followed the I-75 signs. I got though the area just fine with no issues at all. For some odd reason, we managed to travel through Atlanta on Sunday mornings before noon. Never had traffic issues.

It's probably been 5 years now since we've traveled through Atlanta. But Interstates don't change their logistics.

Atlanta always seems busy when we go through.
We stay on 75.

Last year We went straight through on I 75, Information center said that if you wanted to avoid all the big trucks to go straight through. It was pretty easy, but we did go through on a Sunday around noon.

We have gone thru Atlanta "too many times" and have done it both going thru and around. The best advice that I can give you is there is no good way avoid Atlanta at all cost if possible!

By pass Atlanta

I totally agree, BYPASS Atlanta. I just went through there a month ago and it is a zoo, even the North side up to Chattanooga can be stop and go. I would consider going south of Nashville to Birmingham ,AL and then go east. Or go through Atlanta at midnight.
South of Atlanta is McDonough, GA and for some reason traffic backs up there for NO reason both directions. Did I say I HATE Atlanta. Go luck. Don't know if you have picked place in Savanna, but the Red Gate Rv park is nice and close in. Not much there but easy to get to.
Travel safe.

I-75 Through Atl

I travel with my Monty 5th wheel through Atl at least 2 times a year and usually 4. First off, there are always semi-trucks going through ATL. Maybe oversize loads have to get off. There are no signs indicating that. Regardless, it always sucks going through Atl almost anytime. But you can do it with no issues - just lots of traffic. Try to hit downtown sometime after 11PM (yes that is at night) and 4:30AM. Your other option is to try and hit right in the middle of the afternoon between 11:30 and 1:30. After that it just sucks! And most of the time even if you hit at noon on Sunday, it sucks! Good luck!

I’ve got plenty of time to figure it out. It would be next year’s “ big trip “. Anyway thanks for all the advice.
