Hot water heater

It's too cold here in NW Kansas to put water in the tanks or the HW heater.
Next week we are traveling south in sub zero wind chill and single digits temp. But we will need hot water on our first night.

I already did the HW heater cleanout and put the plug in after thoroughly drying out.

Any suggestions on how to fire up the HW heater when it's this cold without freezing up?

I know this sounds kind of silly, but it just occurred to me to ask.

Please and thanks.

If you are leaving home with dry tanks because of the cold, are you hoping to fill them on the way?
Will the Campground you are going to have water available or will they have their spickets winterized?
Maybe leave your rig winterized and use the Campground showers. We did that in November, 18°F where were were at and already had the rig winterized. For hot water (dishwashing) we heated it on the stove.
You will need to sanitize your tanks and pipes once you do get water in them.
Do NOT turn on your water heater until you can verify you have water in it.
Good luck, be safe.

why not just carry a couple of gallons of water in jugs and heat it in a pan on the stove for that one night. Beats having to worry about freezing up the next day on the road.
We traveled from South Dakota to Indiana the 1st of December, was in the teens when we left and no campgrounds open until we got to Illinois. I winterized the rig and stayed in a motel for a couple nights until we got to our daughters where we could fill up, plug in and keep the heat on.
