They made an error. LT tires do not have to be derated for service on RV trailer axles.

The sole decision of what designated size tires to be used as OEM is the vehicle manufacturers and theirs alone. The description for LT tires written by Dexter (above) is accurate but omits who has the authority to make the selection.

Our 2021 295RL came with Rainiers 16" load range F. @ 11,300 empty & the fact that Just me ,wife & 66 lb Australian Shepard travel light hoping that i can get at least a year out of the Rainiers? When picking up our 5th wheel had a conversation with a transport driver & he said he has the least amout of tire issues with the RV's that come with the Rainiers or Goodyear Endurance tires? Being retired we tow @ 62mph regardless of posted speed limit & I'm dilligent about checking tire pressure & heat check. We mostly tow on the Texas/ Louisiana Gulf coast. Wish me luck or change my mind why i need to immediately change out the Rainiers. Had really good luck with the Hercules H901 0n my previous TT.

Good luck but why would you talk the chance? Your travel travel was probably didn’t weigh nearly as many as your Montana so you wouldn’t have any trouble with those tires.

Why roll the dice and create the potential for destroying your camper with junk Chinese tires on it. If I were you I would replace them ASAP with the Sailuns or Goodyear's if you want to cough up double the price

My 2014 Cougar 28RLS came with load range D Trailer king tires (AKA China bombs) replaced them 5 yrs later with zero issues . Spare had never been put on the ground .Replaced them due to age not wear. Hercules H901 F rated in 15" size. Propbably will replace the Rainiers with the Hercules H901 G rated. Made by Cooper tire. Great tires.

For the lite trailers, tires aren’t nearly as critical as on the heavy units. I wouldn’t try to get by with China Bombs on a heavy Montana. Tire blow outs until a couple years ago were the big topic here. They aren’t now thanks to good G rated tires.

I agree with Lynwood's statement. A cougar is a very different animal than a Montana. Much lighter and less prone to Tire blowouts. However it does happen. Goodyear endurance seems to be a good choice for the lighter fifth wheels

295RL

I understand the Montana 5th wheels are heavy but whats the # on weight of a Montana 5th wheel that determines the factory tires are not sufficient to carry the load of a 5th wheel. I do know we loaded all our gear from our 31ft 8k loaded TT to our 11,300 lb Montana High Country 295RL with plenty of room in storage to add more stuff which i do not plan to do. My guess is with the stuff we loaded ,the batteries. Propane ect. We're sitting about 12,000 lbs with a hich weight including me,wife, 66lb Australian Shepard & fuel @ 2800 lbs. So with 2800 lbs sitting on the truck were towing a trailer weight of 10,200 . I would think the load range f 12 ply rainiers would be sufficient to carry this load. We don't boondock & always stay at full hookup camp sights so no water, sewer being transported while towing . Just trying to understand why people are running out replacing brand new tires with brand new tires of a different brand? Just wondering if perhaps with all that storage space if the 5th wheels are being overloaded . Would like to here from people that actually tow these numbers with zero issues with the factory Rainer tires.

Simply Google St Tire blowouts and you will be able to read forever. Trust those of us here and get them off your trailer ASAP.

It’s not the weight of the camper but the quality of the tires. The standard ST China Bomb tires have a real quality problem. The tires are rated to carry weight but we take a real chance with these tires.

I'll offer this real world example:
Very good Friends bought a brand new Jayco Pinnacle fifth wheel and we both went on a Caravan of the Canadian Maritime for two months. They went through all FIVE tires that came with their unit. Most were caught doing the morning checks, bubbles and broken belts, but the fifth totally shredded leaving nothing but the bead on the rim.

Ok thanks .
Looks like a trip to our local Tire Dealer is in order Gonna replace with the Hercules H901 G rated 14 ply. Now to find someone to buy the brand new Rainiers for their stock or utility trailers.

I'm on record here for posting we got 2 seasons and a little over 10K miles on our factory F Range Rainiers. The tires still looked like new when we replaced them in Feb of this year. Tread wear was very light and even. They held air as good as any tire I've owned.

Based on past experience with China bomb ST tires, I simply felt like I was pushing my luck and changed them out. Local Independent dealer had great deal on Sailuns, In fact, several local dealers carried them at better price than the big online stores.

Of interest - Every set of Sailuns I've seen made in late 2020 through 2021 so far have been made in Vietnam.

Thanks Creeker
Was hoping to get @ least 1 1200 mile there & back to Louisiana Gulf coast to see how 5th wheel handled ,towed. I know Sailuns seems to have good results according to people here & other RV sights. Just couldn't handle the thought of replacing Stock tires made in China with other brands made in China. H901s are made in Malaysia so buying Sailuns made it Vietnam makes it a little easier to swallow.

So if I read you correctly you're going to leave the China bombs on your unit and take a gamble that it won't be destroyed when one or more of them blows.
Apparently I'm not as much of a gambler As You Are. I have seen the damage that can be done multiple times and it's not pretty. Not only damage to the side skirting and Fender but the underside of the slide and trailer bottom gets torn apart along with any Electrical Plumbing hydraulic lines in the area.
IMHO it's not worth the $500 or so it would cost you between selling the old ones and purchasing something better

My Rainer 235/80R16 Load Range F OE tires lasted about 2200 miles. I blew one about 30 miles out of Birmingham on I-59. Didn't realize at the time of purchase (7-31-20) that the tires were manufactured in 2018. I replaced all five with Synergy ST235/80R16 G (14 ply) commercial trailer tires. Trailer is a Montana High Country 295RL. Hercules aluminum rims are rated at 115psi. These Synergy tires are rated for 105 maximum pressure.
