Suspension caused Tire wear on right side tires

Hi fellow owners

We were in the Florida Everglades and when inspection of tires saw that significant trend wear on back tire on inside of tire and front tire had significant tread wear on outside. The other side tires appear to be fine. When we arrived in ft myers after a 200 mile drive and was setting up camp I discovered the back bracket on the spring had become separated. No idea what happened to the zert. See the pics. I doubt it’s safe to move now. Call to lippert in am.
I first thought this was an alignment issue but now it’s the springs.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
This is a 2021 3121rl. Legacy.

You lost or broke your spring eye bolt and bushing causing your axle to dog track or skew while on the road. That one tire ... you can nearly see the air in it!!! I'd not move till it's fixed. If you are handy with tools, you can put a new bolt and bushing in with a jack and a large C Clamp. With tires wearing as shown ... it could still be a camber issue after it's all back together. The bolt is special with a serrated head and a locknut on the inside. Check the welds on that spring hangar bracket welded to your frame too.

Thanks so much for a great explanation of my problem. I’m kinda handy but I think this is beyond my skill set. Tomorrow’s project to find a solution!

Whoever does the work, have them measure the hangers for proper alignment. Mine had to be cut off and welded back in place at the proper location. If they are off more than just a small amount, it will cause unusual wear like this and excessive torque on the hangers when turning. You should be able to get the correct measurements for your trailer from Lippert. They have a diagram showing the trailer with measurements from the front of trailer to each hanger that you can verify they are spaced correctly and square to the trailer.

The fix should be fairly simple if no other issues pop up. I would recommend a full swap out of greasable hanger bolts and bronze bushings. As a side note I would get a tread depth gauge for use on the tires. It will indicate tread wear before the naked eye can and alert you to alignment problems.

Also, in the third pic, is the hydraulic jack cylinder nearly touching the ground?

FYI this is a very common problem. I check the torque on ALL of my suspension bolts at least once a year and usually before any long trip. These trailers are NOT maintenance free!

Well, if you can't quickly locate the Lippert part(s), a grade 8 nut and bolt should give you a temp fix. If you're in a CG, sit on the ground by the axle with a hydraulic jack and a puzzled look on your face and someone with the skills may offer to help. After the permanent fix, get it aligned so you don't ruin the new tires.

Thanks again for everyone posting on my problem. I had Florida spring and axle out today and fixed the problem. Now safe to move. I really appreciate the members of this Forum.

Just curious of what brand of new tires you hopefully got along with the spring work?

I will be replacing the tires with oem sailun tires. Hopefully these will be better than original ones. I had to replace one due to tread separation and 2 due to being cut off and having to hit brakes hard creating bald area’s.

One more item to address

The the spring hanger bracket will need a repair as well. The hole for the bolt is partially wallowed out.

We had the same problem happen a few years ago. We did call Lippert and report it. Of course, we did pay for the repair. We discovered it while traveling at a rest stop. We had to wait for a mobile mechanic to bring us some generic hardware to get it safe to travel the remaining 500 miles home. It wore our tires too, but not quite as badly as yours.

The shakel bolt and bushing failed.Take a look at the morride heavy duty spring shakels with wet bolts they are worth it .. replace all as previously mentioned. It happens. A mobile repair person should be able to get you back on the road and put the spare on till you can get another tire. I have to believe the opposite side tire on same axel is shot as well
