Splendide Washer Leak

Our Splendide Washer (ARWXF129W) has developed a leak. It appears to be during the draining phase and I suspect it's the pump, but yanking it out is going to be a major undertaking and I'd prefer to only have to do that once, so I was hoping to get some expert assistance (as I have gotten so many times on this forum!) If I can pre-order the right part and only have to disassemble things once, that would be nice.

The leak is inside the unit. It's pooling in the left side (facing the unit) sheet metal area where the shocks are mounted and it's dripping out of the holes in that sheet metal. The right side is totally dry.

I used a probe camera to take a (not pretty) video of it. I had to rotate the vid 90 degrees, so YouTube has it flagged as a 'short'. Sorry for that, but here's the link, showing how it's dripping down during the drain phase. (Shot this through one of the holes used to mount the faceplate.)

https://youtube.com/shorts/aiZXu2WRAeE?feature=share

Any insight here would be great. I'm guessing I need a new pump, but 'guess' is the key word here.

Unfortunately, unless you pull the washer out and open it up, you'll never know for sure. It's possible it could be as simple as a loose connection, or it could be the pump itself leaking.

I know its a real challenge to pull these washers out and open them up to examine them, but I think you really need to do this before investing any money into something that might not be broken.

I would sooner think it's a connection that's leaking and simply needs tightening. You won't know for sure until you pull the washer.

Sorry, for my gloomy prognosis. I have a Splindide also and had my own share of problems with it. It's no fun for sure.

Call Splendide Technical Support at (800) 356-0766. They are terrific and will help you diagnose the issue.

While you have it out, if you don't already have one, put a water catch pan in there.

Is that an actual 'part' or a general description of something I should improvise?

Yup, it's a thing. I wasn't sure you could get one RV size but here it is.

Excellent, thanks. Ordered one of those.

Thanks for the contact number, Carl. I'll give that a shot.

While it is out, also put a water detector behind the washer, so if the drain overflows (ooops forgot to keep the grey valve open! It happened to me DOH!) you have an alert. https://www.amazon.com/Glentronics-I...11K/ref=sr_1_6

While we are at it, I attached the Splendide maintenance manual (aka Training Guide, SplendideTRAINMANXC_Complete.pdf) which is EXTREMELY helpful if things are not working as expected, as well as the Splendide parts guide. Hopefully these will help you in your upcoming maintenance!

Does your washer have a filter for the wash water? Ours does and if I get lazy and the filter is getting clogged the pressure in the drain system rises and I have a I have a leak.

Yeah, at the bottom/front there's a filter. That was the first thing I checked, and it was a bit mucked up, but not horrible. I was hoping that cleaning that out would fix it, but it did not. (Before I got the probe camera on it, I was trying to convince myself that the remaining water I was seeing was just the filter water 'shaking out' of the unit. My delusion failed.)

I'm waiting for my water catch pan to arrive before I start ripping this thing apart. (Amazon shipping snafu it seems.) I'm hoping for a loose connection. I'm not opposed to getting a new pump, but taking these things in and out of the bedroom closet is gonna suck and I don't want to have to do it multiple times.

Fingers crossed.

We have a similar leak. Already installed the drip pan, the leak is quite small. Working on the washer is a nightmare. I am fairly sure the leak comes from behind the soap/softener dispenser. The procedure I will try is to remove the screws at the back top and then the entire top can be pushed back I think and it will pop off to get a better look. Splendide service is great to work with.

We've had to move our Splendide washer combo out at least once a year to clear a lint bildup. Our washer/dryer closet floor is about 18" or so above the bedroom floor. So I built a plywood table to sit in front of the cabinet that I can pull the washer out onto while working behind it. I'll attach a couple of pics. The 4 legs are attached with hinges. After removing the braces, the legs fold up for storage. The table is the same height as the washer cabinet floor.

Wow, that's a bummer. Our lint traps are all at the front of our Splendide washer and dryer.

Cool design. Not too helpful in my case. 1) I suck at making things with wood...or other materials. 2) Our washer is 1 inch above the bedroom floor. The dryer sits on top of that. Even if I remove the closet door (which I definitely will), the dresser is right there.

Maybe if I dangle the dryer from the ceiling...

Going to take a stab at it tonight. Someone warn the ambulance driver...

Having just removed ours from the hall closet (after removing the doors) for the third time just to try and clean a lint clog, there must be a better way to lift these puppies up. Is there some king of lifting straps you can run under the washer to give you something a grip and leverage?

Before we went full time, the first winter we owned one we winterized the rig without running anti-freeze thru the washer pump and had the pump housing crack due to the small amount of water it still held. Since replacing it we have always run the anti-freeze thru there every winter on the rig we leave in Kansas for the winter.

I've had ok luck with furniture moving straps (or forearm forklift straps) with heavy items in the past, but I'm not sure there would be room to get it rigged up to the washer or dryer, much less with a partner.

I haven't got any with me to try it out. I'm going to go for the "hernia gambit" today. Sigh.

Well, looks like good news. I pulled the stack, took off the top, back and bottom panels of the washer and fired it up. The leak was coming from the dispenser.

Pardon the off-axis image. This was also taken with the probe. (That thing has been really handy!)

I removed the entire dispenser assembly, cleaned it thoroughly, put it back together and, voila, dry as a bone.

Thanks for all the pointers, everyone.

One sad part is that the water catch pan thingy, while sized to fit the closet, won't fit due to the ground level plumbing of the drain. Ah well, it was useful when I was troubleshooting the issue on the carpet.
