How to make sofa bed more comfortable?

Has anyone come up with any good ideas on how to make the sofa bed more comfortable? Any ideas would be appreciated. We have had a several people spend the night on it and ALL have recommended a mattress upgrade.

Thanks.

We normally don't sleep on it, but when our daughter or son stays with us, we put a 3" foam, queen size topper on it, and they say it's comfortable.

We've tried foam toppers, we've tried air mattresses, and we've tried thicker air mattresses. Our solution was to simply forget about the hide-a-bed and put one of those 12 inch thick air mattresses directly on the floor. It solved all the horrible sleepless nights!

Same as Bartman, my brother sleeps on it 2 weeks a year during hunting season with a 4" foam topper. He says it's more comfortable than his mattress at home and ended up ordering the same topper for his home.

Same as Bartman and RMcNeal, we use a 4” queen mattress topper and it significantly helps our guests. When not in use it stores under the couch sleeper and out of the way.

When we had to replace our "pleather" furniture, we replaced with a good sofa bed. Prior to that, a 4 inch foam topper (serta) did the trick.

Adding a true wool blanket to improve breathing of the air bed and or foam is great too! Even heating and cooling
