Schwintek slide

The dreaded Schwintek slide out of timing scenario! Yep it happened. I read here recently that you shouldn't change directions in mid operation as this can cause a motor sync issue. While packing up yesterday DW hit the bedroom switch (which was already closed) and stopped about an inch out and reversed direction. This was all it took? The slide is now in a bind and wont extend. Each time I try it gets a bit worse. Any suggestions?

I thought of unplugging one motor from the controller and trying to sync them.

Have you Googled how to do that? I don’t have that type of slide but I’ve seen videos on how to correct Schwintek issues.

Since the controller requires feedback from each motor ... I doubt if it will do anything if you simply unplug one motor. It's near impossible to shove a slideout either way with the motor attached to the shaft. Access is a bit cramped, but there is only one screw holding the motor in place as it sits on top of 4 short studs. You get at the screw from the outside of your fiver. There is a button on the controller that you press (with say a toothpick) six times and then hold during the 7th press until a LED light flashes ... then another person presses the slideout switch ... this manually overrides the controller. Your slide may be too far ajar for this to help. Here's a PDF of the owners manual. Like said there are several "how to" videos on Schwintek slides using a Google search.

I had lots of problems with mine when I fist got my Trailer. No one told me you can't stop mid way. If the relay trips you have to reset it like the above poster told you. On mine I had to disconnect one motor which you have to remove the screw from out side under the rubber trim. The slide needs to be open to access the screw. Also when you get it resynced you should hold the button for 5 seconds after it's all the way in or out.

Ya I saw all these. The problem is that it's binding when extending at about 6".

The second link shows how you disconnect the motor, that's what I had to do also as my was stuck. you can move the motor from the track after removing the screw. Then you should be able to push on it while holding the switch to bring it in. If that won't work you will have to disconnect both motors.

Before you disconnect the motor, try overriding the controller. On the controller, there is a green button recessed in the front. I think the process is to press it 6 times and hold on the sixth press until the lights flash, then run the slide all the way in from the switch. This is supposed to override the hall sensors to each motor and just run it in.

Update: I watched all the videos and spoke with a tech at FLRV who showed me how to re-sync the motors. I went home and put the control in manual mode to do the process. The room wouldn't retract all the way so I tried to extend it. It wouldn't extend either. I let it time out and tried again but this time the switch was reversed. Out was in and in was out. It's going in Monday morning for repair.

That sounds like the controller is not working correctly.
On mine, the motor wasn't seated correctly in the gib, and allowed the motor to turn in the wall. Eventually, it pulled the wires out of the top of the motor as they twisted back and forth when the slide moved. I replaced the motor and haven't had any problems since.

I had a similar problem a few years ago. It was like the scene in Goldmember when Austin Powers was trying to turn his vehicle around in the narrow hallway! I had to laugh. In the end the mobile tech switched the controller from one side to the side giving me fits (in the basement) - that allowed me to get on down the road until a new controller could be installed. After reading all this though now, I wonder if my issue could have been corrected witht he overide procedure described. Maybe I didnt need a new controller after all? Good luck!

Let us know how you come out Foldbak. Hope your rig isn't out of commission for too terribly long. Seems you've definitely had your share of issues. Hang in there! Soon as all the bugs are worked out you will hopefully have smooth sailing ahead.

Picked it up today. Tested prior to connection to truck. Bed bottom was scraping floor slightly. Notified the Service manager. Was told "its working so take it 4th of July camping and we'll address next week". Got home unhooked and went to open to pack for the weekend and .......wait for it...........slide bound up! Schwincrap is stuck again! 100 degrees out! Hook up and called FLRV and told them I'll be dropping it off at 8:30 am and picking it up at 4:00pm! DW doesn't know yet

Took it back to the dealer. They worked on it all day. The bedroom slide opened and closed 10 times. Took it home leveled it and ran the slide out. Bound up about 10". The slide is out of alignment and the cabinet doors are out of alignment. I fear that because of the pitch of my driveway the jacks are putting strain on the frame causing it to flex at the bedroom slide. I'll be that guy driving down the road with his slide partially out It's going camping today! I wonder if a 6 point leveling system would help? Time to talk to Mootana!

Regardless of the pitch of the driveway, once you have adequate blocking under the jacks are you doing Auto Level? If Auto Level actually levels your rig then it shouldn’t matter what pitch the driveway is at and shouldn’t, therefore, affect your slides any differently than at the dealership.

I have to agree with the "auto-level" issue. We were parked in Texas on a hill and auto level would not complete as the unit was too far off kilter. One slide bound up. At the next stop on a relatively level site, auto level completed and the slide worked fine.

Samtana escalated a repair ticket for me and Misty with Keystone customer service called. She told me that as of yesterday Keystone issued a repair notice to all dealerships regarding the failure of the 2022 Schwintek slider and a repair procedure and parts kit. For those of you having issues with the newer slides contact your dealership or Keystone customer care.

Hats off to Sam and Keystone for the awesome customer service.

Update. I finally got her back home yesterday. All PDI items completed and bedroom slide repaired. Aside from all the drawer slide, latches, trim pieces etc. the major items were the bedroom slide, fresh water overflow and the GFI's.
  • Schwintek slide components replaced. Rails, tracks, gears, etc. Bedroom bed frame rebuilt using 2x4's. Floor and trim repaired. Leveled it with Lego's under the wheels on the low side and then used the auto level. Schwintek worked perfectly.
  • They discovered that the transfer switch was wired incorrectly causing the GFI's to trip when the generator was engaged.
  • Fresh water overflow was extended and exited out of the belly.
Another noteworthy item is that I told then one of the AC vents had little to no air flow. None of them are great because of the design. Great airflow when removed. They replaced the one with the old style adjustable louvers vents and it blows like heck! I'm going to replace all of them!

Shout out to FLRV!

That's good news. If you would be so kind and post where you get the louvered vents, I'd like to replace mine too. Thanks.
