Hot Water Heater Anode Rod
Sorry I just cannot go look, my rig is in storage right now so I thought someone here could answer my question.
I've been told that my 2020 Keystone Montana 3121RL's hot water heater does NOT have a Anode Rod and therefore a replacement is not necessary is this correct? Find it a bit difficult to believe but that is what a guy was telling me.
Really????????? Ive owned campers for years before this Montana and they have always had a Anode Rod in the hot water heater. We bought this one new, but do to some health problems have not been able to use it very much so I haven't really looked at it or bothered with it.

Montanas used a Suburban water heater for many years. It has an anode rod. Newer Montanas come with an Atwood water heater. It does not have an anode rod. I would be guessing to say which you have.

If your water heater is a Suburban, it will have an anode. If the water heater is an Atwood or a Dometic now and has an aluminum tank, it will not have an anode.

Not positive this still holds true but one way to tell if you have a suburban or Atwood/dometic water heater is where the vent is on the cover. It is on the right for suburban and the left for Atwood/dometic.

If you open the vent door, there will a manufacturer sticker on the inside.

Same Trailer/Suburban WH/Be sure to check rod
I would encourage you to check your Anode rod if you have one. Unfortunately when we bought our brand new 2020 Montana the dealer said absolutely nothing about the existence of the rod, much less the need to check the rod's condition as a part of yearly maintenance.
We were having issues with the electric side of our water heater. A friend suggested I check the anode rod ( I gave them a quizzical look). When I did I found the anode rod to be almost completely disintegrated. While I don't think this explains the water heater issue, it certainly does explain the crap in our water lines that were clogging up our kitchen faucet.

The anode has nothing to do for the gas or electric operation of the water heater. We are full time and I try to drain and flush the tank at least a couple times a year in addition to my annual replacement of the anode, which helps keep the white debris from clogging the faucets.
