After much research, I decided to give the Lexel a try. Got a 12 pack from Lowe's at around $8.50 per tube. I have tried the Big Stretch stuff at the S&B and have not been impressed. It doesn't seem to stick even after cleaning with denatured alcohol.
I'll post results/impressions after I've removed and replaced some this week.
Thanks to all for the replies!

I'd use either Dicor, Dow Corning or 3M. In that order.

That's not always true. When I talked to GE about their silicone not curing if past the expiration date, I asked if their silicone would stick to it's self. The bottom line is that some will and some won't. If you are going to put new silicone over old, call who ever makes and ask if it will cure on top of the old. My information is for GE only.

That was one of the reasons I chose Lexel. This stuff is supposed to stick to nearly anything, including itself. Supposedly even under water!

Has anyone tried a product designed for marine use? I know it’s more expensive but seems it might work better. Here’s a 3M product they claim can be used on both boats and RVs.
