Boxed end tables

We have a 2020 3931FB, although I'm sure that several other floor plans are identical in this area. On each end of the sofa are built-in end tables that are actually boxes similar to the cabinets. Have any of you opened these to utilize as storage? I can not find any exposed mounting screws or figure out how they are installed. I know that a lot of the internal construction is done before the side walls are installed so this may not be practical without risking significant cosmetic damage.

Probably set down over a nailer board on the floor then the crazy guy with air nailer went to work!

Those things are tiny in my 2018 3921FB...maybe 6” wide x same length as the couch width...not much usable space. Maybe they made those bigger in the newer models ( but the couch would have to be smaller than our couch)

I had the same thought about those boxes. At least make a magazine space out of one of them. Exploring that is on my list now that I finally have factory defects beat down.

Yes, they are small but "hiding place" storage doesn't have to always be big. Pew Pew's and $$$ don't take up much space.

Ideally, a hinged lid.

Sofa End Tables

This is the discussion I was looking for but didn't hear from anyone who might have removed the sofa end tables. I too had the thought of converting one or both of them to a magazine holder. I think the front of the end table is secured to the frame with brad nails but would like to hear from anyone who has removed them and then what you did to make this space usable.

Following up?

Curious if anyone followed through and removed these end table boxes and what was discovered? We are in a 2021 Montana 3855BR and before I start demo on these…

I would be real curious what might be inside those, especially some sort of wiring or power connections. On my rig - the power cord reel is in the other side of the wall. There may not be anything in there, but I would approach demo carefully - expecting that I would find something and need to put the sidewall nicely back up.

End tables

I posted the original question and have not heard from anyone who has removed these end tables. I suspect there might be some tail light wiring inside the boxes but don't know until we hear how to remove them. I was thinking of opening the exposed end to make a magazine rack so some of this space would be useful.

Sofa End Table Remove - Empty

For any future people wanting to know.

I removed the back of the queen sofa couch by unbolting.
*two of the four bolts actually had nuts and were tightened.

Then, pulled out the queen sofa.
*Figuring out that it was attached by one 2” screw to the floor in the middle of the sofa frame.

I removed the thin paneling on the side of the first end table with a crow bar. I wanted to preserve in case I needed to reattach.
AND…..
Nothing. 😂
Completely hollow space. No wires.

The second end table did have a pass through hose for the tank vent. (See pics)

* I did discover that we have an outlet behind the sofa that is pre-wired. Just need a receptacle installed.

All my photos added sideways. I’m not sure why, or how to fix… sorry. 🫤

Put a horizontal piece inside and a piano hinge on the top and you have a hide it area

End Table Mystery

Mystery solved and it wasn't as complicated as I imagined. I will probably attempt to add an opening to the front of one or both of these boxes to add a magazine rack. Not much else you can do with this small space. Thanks for boldly going where no man has gone before and letting everyone know how these "tables" are put together. I'm sure they built the frame and glued/stapled the side on. The did the same thing with part of the dining room table that mounts to the wall. Thanks again for the info and photos.

Maybe some kind of thin roll out spice rack kind of holder coming out the front?

Boxed end tables

Yes, a roll out spice rack would also work. You need to add something that is tall and thin to make good use of this unused space.
