Electrical Connections to Tow Vehicle
New to trailering and the fifth wheel. I also have a Lance 1191 truck camper. Lance recommends using their proprietary connector, with heavy-duty wiring direct from the TV battery (w/circuit breaker) to supply sufficient amperage to the camper. Lance mantains the OEM wiring is insufficient.
I haven't seen anything on this forum yet, so I was wondering it the OEM 7-pin trailer wiring is sufficient for the 5er 12v needs, or should I replace it with heavier gauge wiring direct from the battery? Secondly, If I do that, does it affect the TV's computer and sensing that the 5er is attached/trailer brake sensing?

I don't know anyone that has replaced their wiring.

Towed my Monte for 14 years first with the OEM 7 pin bumper connector on my 2007 F350 and then with the OEM 7 pin in-bed connector on my 2012 F350 and never a problem.

I installed a DC-DC charger (link below) as a back up to my Solar system for boondocking trips.
The most I have measured going through the 7 way cable is about 7A. I believe the wire is rated for 30A. That circuit in my truck has a 30A fuse.
I did not Disconnect the 7 way 12vdc wire since we don't always boondock.
I would say if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Your truck will send a trickle charge to your camper battery, which basically will keep the battery topped off while driving. It's not intended to power the entire trailer. Replacing the wire will not change anything, except cost you needless time and money. Leave it as is and don't try to improve something that can't be improved.

No problem with existing wiring, ever. I would be concerned about tapping into the TV battery directly especially when boondocking. That battery(s) need to stay charged for obvious reasons.
