tank sensors

I have a 2018 3721RL legacy ordered new in 2017. The tank sensors have worked flawlessly since purchase. About 5 days ago ALL the sensors stopped working at the same time. Any ideas why?

I think I would start by looking in my DC fuse panel. The blown fuse LED indicator has to have a call for load to light the LED. While looking at the fuse panel have someone push one of the buttons on your sensor display panel. If it lights a red light that is the fuse that is blown.

There are no "buttons" on the sensor. Do you mean one of the lights.
I have InCommand panel with only lights for the tank sensors.

Sorry I'm not familiar with the in-command system. Do you touch a screen or pick a menu item to check your tank levels? If so, that is what you will need to do for the blown fuse indicator to work.

The InCommand panel just has lights showing levels in the tanks. No buttons to push.

I do not have the In-Command system, nor am I personally familiar with it. However, I did down-load the In-Command PDF so I could educate myself a little more, especially with regards to these forums. So, anyway, from the In-Command PDF manual, here's some things you might consider. I have no clue how these work or how you do it:

TRAVEL LOCKOUT (Safety)
iN-Command is equipped with a Travel Lockout feature to ensure
certain system functions are unavailable during transit.

When the Brake Signal (Towable) or Ignition (Motorized) is activated,
the iN-Command will lock down all motorized functions. The Display
Commander (DC) and mobile devices will also display “Travel Lock
Engaged” and the affected buttons will cease to activate.

The lights, water pump, water heater, generator and tanks sensors
will continue to function.

To turn the Travel Lock off, press "Disengage" on the Display
Commander (DC), inside the RV, once the brake signal has been
removed.

Page 40:
SYSTEM CALIBRATION *

From the Administration page, the App Data can be deleted, the
Generator Hour Meter can be set, and the Water Tanks can be calibrated.

1. From the Settings page, press "Administration".

2. Enter Administrator passcode to proceed.**

3. Make Selection.

4. Select “Tanks” to set resistor reference value for every tank.


.... More than this, I have no clue. Considering all stopped working at the same time tells me either the In-command device is having issues, or a wire that delivers power to all the sensors has been disrupted (that could be a fuse ... yes, or could be a broken wire too).

If they all quit at the same time, I would suspect either missing 12vdc or an open ground on that circuit.

You might try a reboot for the INCommand...unplug from shore power and disconnect one of the battery leads...wait a few minutes and hook it all up again.

If you haven’t done as suggested already, try a reset. If that doesn’t work, contact In-Command for suggestions. They are pretty good at troubleshooting. Keep us posted on what you find.

I had the same thing on a 2019. Had it fixed under warranty, but they said it was a corroded ground wire.

He is talking about the Fresh, Gray and Black tank sensors.
However the Mopeka sensors work well on the propane tanks. I like them a lot. I don’t recommend the receiving piece though, just the sensors, then you can download an app on your phone, customize your settings and get alerts. Way better, and cheaper.

Which one did you use and can you use multiple one for more tanks?

You buy a Mopeka sensor for each tank that you want a sensor on. I have 3. One on each of my two 40 lb tanks in the 5er and one on a 20lb tank I keep in my truck bed for grills.

Curious if Butch and Linda found the issue with their tank sensor in the In Command center?

I had the same thing happen to me last year. Sensors always worked and then all of a sudden stopped. Had it into the dealer for other service and asked them to look into it. I had had an axel replaced just prior to that and assumed a ground wire was loose or something. Well after dropping the coroplast it was discovered mice had gotten in and chewed up all those wires. They had to replace the entire harness. All in all, with all the labor it was not a cheap repair. Seems in the neighborhood of $500. If you drop the coroplast yourself and check it out, you will save about half. The harness wasn't cheap either.
