Faded Decals

In your opinion, completely remove decals and give the RV a clean look, or leave the faded decals?

New set is $2800 and I'm not spending that on stickers just to sell this RV.

Thank you!

I'd just clean really well if you're going to sell. There is a product called Rejuvinate that may help get a better look. I haven't used it, but it has good reviews.

I've removed boat stripes (like decals) and you'll always see the "ghost" of them because the gelcoat below isn't faded like the rest of the surface. A good wax job can almost make them disappear, but as the was fades they'll reappear. At MORryde a ciuple weeks ago I saw a Montana that was only a few years old that had removed the decals and I thought it looked good. Then again, not a fan of all the "swooshes", if we could have gotten a solid color full body paint, we would have.

If they are just faded I would leave them. If they are cracked and peeling and partially missing, it would just depend on how bad they look. Removing the decals is pretty labor intensive. And then polishing the whole thing afterward????? Either way the value is going to suffer.

I'd pass on the removal if you're just going to sell it. Just give the rig a good detailing and call it good.

If faded is the only issue, leave it and sell as is. If the unit is old enough to have faded decals, not worth the money to replace.

For a 2005 RV to not have faded decals, it would have had to have been garaged full time from day one. I don't think anyone buying an older rig would expect to see perfect decals.

I've been shocked how many complained about them, but then again, I guess $6000 for a $9500 RV is too much haha.

Thank you everyone for your advice, once I sell it, I'm going to feel bad not having such an awesome community of people to help me with my questions.

The old saying you don't get a second chance to make a first impression. People see all the newer RVs with the impressive decals and/or paint jobs and just expect that for all them without realizing the limited lilfetime of those. Even though the inside may be immaculate, that outside is what they see first. And know that other people will see first. Hard to get past that.

Bill is right about second chance to make a first impression, but it may not be cost effective to make such an impression. You are not going to increase the value of the rig enough to justify the expense and the effort. Take it from someone who replaced decals on the front of a 2006 Montana. (Which we bought new). I had less than $200 in the front decals, but it was A LOT OF WORK. I only did it because we intend to make this our last RV. If you, have it priced right for its' age, an informed buyer will come along and realize what they are getting.
