Leaking Vacuum Breaker

2021 Montana 3761FL. Found water leaking into basement and further troubleshooting found little plastic vac breaker to protect black tank flush from siphoning into clean water was leaking. Mine was located under MBR sink. Anyone have that issue? Made quite a mess. I ended up pulling this out and now I use a flex hose and union to make a complete disconnect to avoid siphon. Anyone have better idea? This is a pain but got sick of cleaning up.

Common problem with these valves. You can replace it with one that is better quality or straight line it.

With this being a common problem, I changed mine the first day I brought the rig home from the dealer.

Take it off and throw it away and connect the two ends. You will never have another problem.

Have removed everyone from all our Monty's. I use a brass type on the outside before the water goes into the flush outlet.

Some have replaced it with a better one. Most have simply removed it and connected the pipes together. And most of us doing that use an external vacuum breaker at the hose connection.

Just be glad it wasn’t in a wall like mine was.

Ours has worked fine for 4+ years, as long as you open the water slowly when flushing the black tank so that the valve will seat properly and check for leaks, and we always turn our water off when gone for more than an hour.

Dick, can you pass along what you used and where you got it from. Mine is leaking under the bathroom sink with I flush the black tank.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Daryles, did you consider doing away with the internal valve and go with on screwed onto the convivence center connection?

No I just replaced it.
I got the valve and elbows at Lowe's. Also bought shut off valves for the PEX pipes to the washer ( we don't have one). Got PEX tool crimping kit.
Assembled the valve and crimped it in.
Then installed the shut off valves to the washer right after the junction. Less to winterize.

I do like the idea of being able to valve off the water lines to the washer connections. We don't have one and 99% certain we never will.

Never say never.
We thought they were silly until our First SnowBird adventure for three months. Lost a few shirts due to oil/grease or something inside CG washers. Granted not expensive shirts, just the thought that something more important could be ruined. Ordered a Vented Combo Washer/Dryer on the way home that spring. Put another Combo in our second unit and now have the Stacked Washer & Dryer since this unit has a specific cabinet for them.

I stand corrected, never is a long time, but I am getting old. And I did leave myself an out by saying "99%"!

Sometimes people report bad smelling water. They flush the freshwater tank and pipes but forget about the washer pipes. Once they flush these pipes all is well.
That's another reason to put in shut off valves to the washer.
