Yellowstone Natl Park
Have checked three trips off the bucket list this summer.
Starting to plan for next spring: Yellowstone Park..
any experience, suggestions and/or recommendations would be appreciated.
Looking at 10 days getting from Dallas Tx to Cody, Wy....
10 days at the park (probably change campgrounds mid way)...
then 10 days to get home. We have the time - we are retired!!
Thanks

Going to Cody. I have one recommendation see the Cody museum. To me it is a must see. There are actually 5 museums, and they are all worth seeing. The first time I was there I planed to spend 15 minutes to see this little museum. stayed 2 days. The other place I would see would be is Union Pass. I think is the prettiest place in Wyoming. The Union Pass road is north of Dubios about 10 miles and goes all way over to Pinedale. It is about 50 miles long with elevations up too 9300 feet and is a great place to boondock.
ENJOY

We spent 10 nights in Grizzly RV Park at West Yellowstone and enjoyed every minute. Had never seen snow flurries in the morning and mosquitoes in the afternoon on the same day before.

I agree, museum in Cody is a must see. Also be sure you drive the St Joseph Scenic Parkway and Beartooth Parkway out from Cody. Just don't do it with a camper behind you. Grizzly Rv is a great campground and so convenient to one of the Yellowstone entrances. Of course, Old Faithful is a must see as we'll as Grand Tetons. Everything there is worth seeing. Just awesome. The sky at night from Grizzly RV was spectacular. Have a great time.

We will be at Red Rock RV for the summer so look us up. Cody is a must see and Beartooth pass is really great if the snow is plowed. Be very bear aware around the Union Pass area. They are having big problems there. I hunt this area. If you want to spend time in the Jackson area, just west of Jackson is Victor Id.. Campground there is Teton Valley RV. There are not to many cg around Jackson unless you stay in the ones w.o. services. Grizzly RV Park is great and close to everything, plus your evening strolls around town and DQ. There are a few really good places to eat in West Yellostone. Git up early and drive thru the park one way, get your pictures and animals. Go to Jackson, Beartooth Pass, Gardiner, spend the better part of the day and then head back. Just don't get in any hurry and have fun watching how really dumb some people are when it comes to getting pictures of animals. If you do stop to shoot pictures make sure you get ALL the way off the road and you won't have no problems. Have fun. Look us up. I can send you on some little side trips from where we are staying. JP
One more thing, stock up on groceries at wally world before getting there. Smith's grocery in Jackson is really good too.

I agree with jsmitfl be careful with the grisly bears on Union Pass. I have not had any trouble up there, but they are up there. If you don't wander around after dark you wont have any trouble. I have never seen one up there and I have seen them in Yellowstone and I still go to Yellowstone along with about 3 million other people. Be careful but don't let that stop you. After all the bears haft to have something to eat.
