First, I just hose it off. Then I use blue Dawn with a small scrub brush to clean it about once a year in the spring. Its under covered storage and open on the front end. Dust blows in from the gravel lot so it gets a lot of dirt from sitting for several months.

Roof Cleaner
I clean my roof 2-3 times per year. I mix dawn and roof cleaner. I use a long handle brush and roof looks good when done. I just get the dirt off of it. Do not worry about the stains. I let the roof dry real well and the next day I use the roof sealer and that puts some protection on the roof. I check the all of the vents and parts that have the sealer on them to make sure they are okay. I wash the trailer after washing the roof with a cleaner and wax. It comes out very nice. I will try and wax the front and back caps to remove any oxidation. I use Meguiar Mirror Glaze 55. Easy on and easy off. My trailer is 5 years old and still looks new.

Dicor makes a rubber roof cleaner and sealant.
More expensive rv's have a fiberglass roof, which needs to be waxed.

There is a fairly current discussion on iRV2 about using a pressure washer ( http://www.irv2.com/forums/f59/using...rv-439922.html). I personally wont use mine (2700 psig) on anything but the wheels. Others - ????

I just did mine. Carefully spray off the loose dirt then took my long handle soft brush and lightly wiped the rest of the roof down. Did not SCRUB .
Looks white again. I did have all my slides in.

We were told by an industry professional that when you wash an RV,you can start at the top but go front to back, not back to front.

Roof Cleaning
I always go front to back. I wash with slides out. We are usually down in Arizona for 2 months and the slide roofs get really dirty. When done doing the cleaning the roof I wash the whole trailer down including around the slides. It’s lots of work but it needs to be done. When I do wash the roof I always wonder why I bought such a large trailer..

We don't know what we use because we do not do the roof. We do have a Rv washing service in Florida that washes the Montana including the roof for 75.00. Here at our dealer in Ohio they charge 4.00 a foot for the wash alone.

We've had our 2017 Montana for just over a year and I came here to find out what material my roof had on it so I could find out the proper cleaner to use so as not to damage the roof. I'm glad I came here and found out I'm NOT supposed to clean it. I may just hose it off (no pressure).
Thanks for sharing the advice of the industry representatives.

I would not use a pressure washer anywhere near my RV. Why purposely Force water into places it's not supposed to be. It could easily strip decals off.
It would probably be okay to use it from a distance just for the water aspect but not the pressure part

That roof material is only a few thousands of an inch thick. Yes, some use a pressure washer on them but are risking failure on this .025 to .045 inch thick material. Additionally EPDM is a sacrificial material in that it turns chalky as it ages and that chalk is the top layer of material. A scrubbing with a soft bristle brush and some sort of detergent is all that is needed. If you see many black spots, that may be the underlaymen, not dirt. TPO roofing is similar but has a shorter life span.
I agree with beeje - I never used my pressure washer on the trailer proper, only the wheels and tires if they got really muddy.
