Pull out bed

We own a 3231 CK, we are wondering if anyone has any ideas as to how to make the pullout sofa/bed more comfortable. We often has guests with us and it is the only thing about our Montana that we are displeased with. Any suggestions!

No matter what you do, you will never be able to make those hide-a-bed sofa's comfortable. Slide toppers will ... well ... slide around and are pain in the neck. Plus, when putting the couch back to seating position, you have stow that topper somewhere.

We tried toppers, blow up mattresses, and a bunch of other things, and no matter what we did, it was always an uncomfortable experience.

We've had 3 trailers with couches that turned into beds, and all 3 were horrible.

What we found works best, is to just forget about using those couches in the "bed" position. Instead, pick a 12 inch thick self-inflating air mattress from Wall Mart or from Amazon. Then simply put the air mattress on the floor. You, your guests, even the family dog will have a much better sleep than fighting those fold out couches. (I know, been there, done that!) The blow up on the floor works best. Get one that's at least 12 inches thick. They fold up pretty good and can be stowed away in the closet when not in use.

THAT is my suggestion from my personal experience. Good luck!

The best hide-a-bed we have seen in Montanas was our current one. It had a fold out hide-a-bed with an air mattress built in. Pump included. EAsy peasy - just fold it out, plug it in, and turn it on. I don't think they have these any more.

That's what our '10 2955RL had. Didn't take long to inflate and when done reverse the pump and sucked all the air back out.

Those air mattress sofa beds were made by Flair Industries, and yes, they no longer exist. We are on our third air mattress, which we purchased directly from Flair years ago. The last time we set it up, the mattress was leaking, so picked up a 24” air mattress from Walmart and this worked well on the floor.

We purchased a King Size piece of egg crate foam from the foam factory and had them cut it to the dimensions of the fold out bed. We place the left over foam strips over the fold down back section to bring it up to the same level as the other two sections, then roll out the foam and cover it with a mattress cover. This made the bed much more comfortable for our guests. We roll the foam and use two straps to keep it more compact so it (just barely) fits under the couch when not in use. Total cost $88. Not perfect, but better.

I wish there was an air bed available that would fit (67x70)!

We have a good inflatable mattress that we put on the bed and when not in use it is stored in a box underneath

I bought a mattress from a mattress store. It’s about 6 inches thick. I never slept on it but I did lay on it and it was comfortable. The people that have slept on it said is comfortable. I looked at it and said that will never fit but surprisingly it folded up and fit in the fold out bed in my High Country.
