Truck Washes?
What has been your experience using truck washes? Every time I am tempted, I see long lines of semis. Can you make appointments?
Do they do a good job? Relative cost? Any tips?

We've use them numerous time BUT you have to tell them crank the pressure down on their pressure hoses and normally they do not do the roofs. They may spray them down by an above sprayer but no pressure wash or anyone up there to scrub it before washing the sides down. Yu also have to tell them NOT TO Spray water into the vents for the water heater, furnace or refrig. This can cause real problems if they do. I don't remember the cost but it was by the foot of the unit and if you want the TV washed that is extra. "Now who wouldn't get their TV washed if they are washing the Monte?" Duh!!! You also have to find out what they use for washing solvent before letting them do it. Some use a harsh solvent or soap and it can take the finish off your unit. There is one up in Elkhart, IN that do a good job and they even wash the roof down before the sides. They do plenty of RV's and know what to do. The name slips my mind at this time but we have used them for promos at the National Fall Rally over the past few years. Sorry, this was a long post and probably not any help to you but what the heck I'm retired! LOL

Yes, Blue Beacon knows what to do and they do a great job. If I recall the last time that I used them I also had the truck washed and the cost was about $38.00.
You can't make an appointment with them but if they are busy they probably have two bays/teams working at the same time and it won't take too long. I'm a retired trucker and during that time on the road used BB many times and never had a complaint.

Thanks guys for the replies! And in my book, there is no such thing as a too long reply. The more info that gets shared the better.

I just found a truck & RV wash in Troy, Texas on I-35 about 20 miles south of Waco. All American Tire & Wash. Stopped in and talked to them. $68.00 for 38 ' RV. sides only. Can do roof also but did not give me a price for that. $9.00 for TV. They use buckets and long handled brushes and then rinse, No wipe down or dry. Going to try them some time. About 50 miles from me. They have web site. Good place to stop on your way to the Valley for the winter. No appointments.

Same here. I don't trust them to hold the pressure down so they don't drive water where it should not be or damage the stickers.

We live in Chico, CA and have a guy who comes to your house and will wash our 3400 for $40 top side and slides out. I have it washed a couple of times a year. As far as the Dodge Mega Cab goes we go to the car wash and get a wash and go (just the outside) for $7.

In Lake Havasu City, AZ. It's Wishy Washy they come to you and do a great job. If in the winter you need an appointment at least a week or two out. I pay about $2.00 a foot.
