Hey guys! New toy for the Monte!!!!!!

This is a sensor for the Propane tank(s) It seems like a good one, for a change....
I copied the pictures I took of it large enough to read, I think.
A regular price at around $30.00, on sale at Lowe's, I got mine today. (At $22.00)
I think Steve Regal, among others, Brad maybe, have a Propane sensor, I don't know if this indicator is more advanced or not.
thought I would share the find.
Hope it works for all of us....

Well, I just read the package, it say's "For all 20# propane tanks"..May not work on ours. BUT, we may find a way around that limitation. A crafty bunch, we are....

Jim, perhaps it will read full until it gets below the 20 lb level, that would work wouldn't it??

How would it know what size tank it is on? Doesn't it just work on the amount of pressure (or lack thereof) in the tank? This really looks great. How long of a wire does it have on it Ozz?

Thanks OZZ and NONECK! I'm heading to Lowes tomarrow to check their clearance racks or even the regular racks to see how much they are here! It should come in handy!

Ozz I am jealous! I have been watching those things on the aisle at Lowes for a couple months just waiting on the clearance sale. Now I am going to go back and check daily.
Thanks for the heads up!

You should be able to get a 15 or 20 foot 1/8" stereo extension cable and move the remote indicator inside the coach don't you think? It looks like they just use a regular 1/8" stereo plug connecting the remote meter to the unit on the tank.

Buddy, I wouldn't extend the cable, it might throw off the calibration of the system. You could mount it in the basement, a guy is always in there rooting around for something.
The bedroom is right above the tanks, you might be able to put it there too.

Yea that's possible, it might; but, it would be worth a shot. You could try using the extension cable when it shows that the tank is full, and then again when it shows it is ready to refill and see if it makes any difference. It would really be neat to mount it up in the coach next to the other indicator lights. You could even put one on each tank in order to monitor both tanks. The bedroom location would be OK too since it has an alarm on it you wouldn't have to have it where you could constantly see it. Just thinking out loud. Let us know how it works out.

Lowes.com has them for $22.88 and if you use ship to store you don't pay shipping, just tax. Would you need one for each side if you wanted to monitor both tanks ?

Steve and I have the same type fill monitor, it has a warning light and 20' of wire so it can be mounted inside the unit. Have mine under the step and the light flashes through the return air grill when the tank is empty. Makes it nice not having to go out and check for an empty tank. Mine is by camco, cost about $30 bucks.

I bought one at lowes yesterday for $22 and it says for 20 lb tanks. What has been learned about putting it on the 30 lb tanks? Does it still work and read OK.

Next question is how are you connecting it, only reading one tank or is there away to read both?

Cyrus, I haven't done anything on mine yet, but will probably just have one, and put it on just one tank.
I think trial and error will determine the calibration of the tank readings.

Picked one up for $18 plus change today at Lowes! I'll try it on one of the Monte's tanks either tomarrow or Monday and let everyone know how it works! Have a great Labor Day !

I just tried to install it and the hoses are too short. Guess I will use it on the grill.

Well, my friend says I brag to much, so I was going to refrain from posting. But what the heck!

My S.O.B. has two of those gauges, one at the tank and one mounted inside. The inside is digital.

The Devil made me say it.

I bought two of these at Lowe's this weekend for $18.75 each. I installed one of them today on my curb side tank. I also had a 20 ft stereo (three wire) extension cable that I used to extend the distance from the tank sending unit to the LED meter. I mounted the LED meter on the wall on the left side of the steps going up to the bedroom on my 3400RL. I routed the cable and tie wrapped it to drain pipes and fresh water supply pipes along the basement ceiling in order to get to the area under the first step going up to the bedroom. As I have it set up now I can only monitor the 30lb bottle on the curb side. I plan to install the second tank sending unit on the road side tank. I will pick up another 12 ft stereo extension cable and route it across the coach to the tank on the curb side. When I go outside to switch bottles I will then just plug in the sending unit from the active tank to the 20 ft extension cable. This will allow me to monitor which ever tank is active at any one time. It seems to work fine with the extension cable.

Good job, Buddy! It will be interesting to see how it monitors the gradual usage of Propane.
