TV for Direct TV Low Def (480p) Signal
I purchased my 2015 3100 RL used 2 years ago. The previous owner changed the main cabin TV to a Smart TV (1080p). A friend gave me a Winegard G2 Direct TV compatible dish which is low def (480p). The 1080p Smart TV gave me only the center of the picture when I used my Direct TV set up. My entertainment center TV opening is 37-3/4" x 22-1/2" and will support a 40" TV and some 43" tv's. I went on line to Amazon.com and Walmart.com and discovered that none of their TV's will support 480p. All of their TV's are Smart TV's and only support 1080p. For those of you using the Direct TV low def (480p) dish, what TV's do you use? I've come to the conclusion that I will need to find an older used TV. I've started looking on Craig's List to find an older TV and am planning on going to Goodwill as well. Would appreciate any other ideas.

Most of the newer TV's have a display options in their settings. Before I did anything else, I'd open settings and try and find those options and see what you can change.

Spoken like a full timer! We only use our Monty a few times per year. We have Direct TV at home. The $1795 cost of the Direct TV HD dish is a bit much. Moving to Dish, is another option, but no "NFL Ticket" on Dish, at least yet. My spouse is a total football junkie. Need to keep her happy! Thx.

The DirecTV open face SL3 antenna (which does provide HD) isn't expensive but is not an automatic aiming device. You get to be the brains. It is pretty easy to aim once you gain some experience but I can understand wanting an automatic antenna.
I believe there are settings in the TV to accommodate the old 4:3 picture. None of them do a perfect job (they tend to crop one side of the picture or stretch the image). I have a MOC member friend who uses that antenna in their 2019 3120 in SD mode. They don't get on here too frequently but I will email them and see what they do.

I understand but I only had about $150.00 in my Dish Network setup. Standard 1000.2 dish mounted to a surveyor's tripod using mast from tv4rv.com. It would receive anything Dish offered that I chose to subscribe to and all in HD. Only took about 15 minutes to set up and be watching TV. Not necessary to spend the big bucks and don't have to worry about theft.

The newer 2K and 4K Tvs will display the old 480 SD but you will not fill the screen fully left and right. The old SD has an aspect ratio of 4:3 where the newer has an aspect ratio of 9:6. My Vizio in the play room is SD and you can go to set up and make it full screen and it will fill screen left and right but the vertical top and bottom is off screen.
